NodeWeaver and Siemens partner for a joint offering on SIMATIC IPCs

Siemens has added native support for NodeWeaver to its SIMATIC IPC ORCLA platform. This means that NodeWeaver can now be deployed directly through the same mechanism that Siemens customers already use to install, restore, and manage their industrial PCs. ORCLA (ORChestration LAyer) is the environment built into SIMATIC IPCs to simplify operating system handling across their entire lifecycle, from factory installation to recovery in the field. With this new integration, NodeWeaver is no longer something that needs to be installed separately, through external media or manual processes. It appears as a standard factory operating system option inside ORCLA; selecting NodeWeaver triggers a fully automated restore sequence-the platform installs, configures, and prepares the IPC, bringing it online with NodeWeaver Edge Operating Platform 12.3 pre-installed and ready to run.

A seamless installation path

For many organizations, the challenge of deploying specialized operating environments such as NodeWeaver lies in the complexity of setup and the need for technical expertise in the field. The integration into ORCLA eliminates that barrier. Installation becomes a predictable, repeatable process that can be executed by any operator without advanced knowledge, reducing the risk of misconfiguration or failure. The restore workflow is entirely automated. ORCLA handles detection of the hardware, formatting of the system drive, installation of the operating system image, and initial configuration. The process is monitored through a progress display that shows time remaining and installation status. Once complete, the IPC is immediately ready for operation.

Advantages for operators

Simplicity

The most visible change is ease of use. Deploying NodeWeaver requires no external USB media, no manual OS installation, and no complex configuration steps. It becomes a single-click operation inside the same environment already used by Siemens IPC customers.

Reliability

Because ORCLA is the official Siemens restore and lifecycle tool, the process is validated against Siemens’ hardware. This ensures that every installation of NodeWeaver is performed in a consistent, repeatable way, reducing variability and minimizing the chance of field failures.

Consistency across fleets

Large deployments of Siemens IPCs benefit from uniformity. With NodeWeaver available in ORCLA, operators can provision multiple systems identically, guaranteeing that each IPC runs the same version and configuration of the platform. This is particularly valuable for environments where uptime and predictability are critical.

Reduced downtime

When a system needs to be restored or re-provisioned, ORCLA makes it possible to return the IPC to a known-good state quickly. Instead of reinstalling from scratch or relying on backup images, NodeWeaver can be restored directly from the built-in tool, significantly cutting recovery time. The integrated DNSops provisioning system allows the post-install configuration to be performed automatically and with no need for user intervention.

By embedding NodeWeaver into the same management layer that Siemens IPCs already rely on, customers gain a deployment path that is both simpler and more reliable. It brings together the resilience and automation of ORCLA and Siemens’ IPCs with the flexibility and capabilities of NodeWeaver’s hyperconverged edge platform.
